You’re very well advised to give SongBook a try if you are a singer or if you are part of a band. This application is a song and chord viewer that uses the Chord pro format (a simple format for notating lyrics and chords), includes extensible chord libraries for guitar, ukulele, mandolin as well as other instruments, and provides support for multiple operating systems. Speaking of which…

SongBook is available for Windows (desktop and tablet), Mac, iOS, and Android. Focusing on the Windows desktop version, there are a couple of things I want to bring up. First up, the fact that SongBook provides support for Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7. Next up, the fact that a straightforward setup wizard will guide you through all the steps you need to take to install SongBook on a PC that runs Windows 7, 8, or 10.

SongBook has a user friendly interface that’s divided into two panels. The panel on the left lists all your songs (a demo song will be listed here by default). Select a song from the list and the panel on the right will list the lyrics and chords. Above these two panels there’s a File Menu and a toolbar with buttons for various features and functions. So overall, a straightforward interface that you’ll quickly figure out.

As mentioned above, the developer gives you a helping hand by bundling SongBook with a demo song. That’s not all the developer has done. If you press F1 (or to go to Help -> User Manual), your default web browser will launch and take you to a website that features lots of useful information on how to use SongBook. This webpage explains how songs are grouped into categories, how to look up chord definitions, how to link an MP3 song, and more.

SongBook isn’t free and a prompt will remind you of this fact every time you launch the application.

SongBook is a must have for any musician or band. It’s a user friendly, feature-rich, and quite useful tool for managing songs and chords.

Pros

SongBook is available for desktop and mobile operating systems. SongBook has a user friendly interface that you will quickly figure out. A demo song is bundled with SongBook and a detailed user manual is available online. SongBook is a handy song and chord viewer.
